ABOUT ME

Patricia Barrett was born to Irish parents, and emigrated to South Africa when she was five years old -  she considers herself fortunate to have enjoyed twenty seven wonderful years in a stunning country.

After completing her education, Patricia took a year off and travelled all over South Africa, where she was privileged to meet a diverse mix of people on her journey.  From staying in remote forests and fishing for her dinner,  to occasionally living it up in plush surroundings, she learnt that once Africa gets into the blood, it never leaves.

After working in blue-chip companies for many years, predominantly in Public Relations, she returned to Ireland in 1997 and started her own business which is still in operation today.  In addition, she qualified in Counselling, Psychology and Cognitive Behavioural Therapies, and is an Addictions Counsellor and Motivational Speaker with many years' experience.

Patricia is an accomplished pianist, a not-so-enthusiasitc DIY-er, and is a lover of all animals.  She has mastered motorcycles, hunting, fishing, ice skating, horse riding, and waterski'ing, and has a creative nature and a love of English.  She also represented Western Province for four years in the Ladies' Senior Pool League in Cape Town.

Her first fictional novel PINK FREUD was published and is available on Kindle, Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk and various online bookstores, in addition to her non-fictional work.

She contributes regularly to her blog at www.patriciabarrett.blogspot.com.
